Earth Sciences Education (BSED)

The world needs educators who can make the complexities of our planet come alive. In the Earth Sciences (BSED) program you will build a powerful foundation in the physical sciences while mastering the art of modern teaching.

Our program integrates robust secondary education courses and classroom management strategies so you can step out of the lab and straight into the classroom with a degree that prepares you to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact on middle and high school students.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the teacher certification program, a student must:

Complete 80 semester hours of credit with an overall grade point average of 2.75 or higher

Complete EDUC 2110, 2120, and EDUC 2130 with a grade of "C" or better

Complete all courses in Area A of the core curriculum with a grade of "C" or better

Complete a Plan of study

Proof of successful completion or exemption of GACE program admissions test

You may exempt GACE program admissions test if you can provide proof of any of the following:

SAT minimum score 1000 combined Verbal/Critical Reading and Math for tests taken prior to July 1, 2019

SAT minimum score 1080 combined Evidence Based Reading/Writing and Math for tests taken on or after July 1, 2019

A copy of your SAT, ACT, or GACE Program Admissions score report is REQUIRED with your application. See our FAQ page for additional information.

Transfer students must supply an official copy of test scores (SAT, ACT, or GACE Program Admissions).

Complete an application for admission to the teacher certification program. Application deadline is posted on the department Web page

Agree to request a criminal background check
